Getting out of your comfort zone and leave you with new experiences

Shortly after we decided on starting our travel adventure this year, i overheard a conversation between a friend and an other women. We were all in the shop were this friend was working. We did not know each other very well. It was this kind of friendship were you ocasionaly see each other at the same places because of same interests and believes, so one time you just start talking. I was not paying attention to the conservation, but still it seamed like a goodybe between them two. I'm usally not this outgoing, but something told me that i just had to get up to here and aks if she's leaving or what that conversation was all about. So i did. She then told me all exited that she and her partner are emigrating to Italy.

Checkpot. My interest has been awakened so I immediatly started chating with her and asked her all the questions I had. She then told me that they had found a property in Piemont and that they will move within the next month. A raw place in the midst of nature, with lots of land already habitable houses. Their vison to this place is to create a home for travellers as a BnB but also invite other people to create their own community.

A fire is lit inside me and I felt like the universe was supporting our future plans and therefore let this encounter happen. Also very out of my comfort zone, and also of noah's, we kind of invited ourself to their place. Telling them about our future plans and our visions and that we would love to visit them.

No sooner said than done. 3 months later we used our summer holidays and decided to visit Mary and Nestor for a week in their new home. My siblings (Yamina and Nanda) decided to join us on this trip.

A week within raw nature and bomb food

Even though Yuma does not like car rides driving with the car was still the best option for this trip. The ride took about 6 hours. Not easy but manageable with the technics that we learned through this journey with him. We started around 10 o clock when it was time for Yuma's first nap. The plan was to drive for 3 hours, then take a lunch break and again drive for another 3 hours. Yuma had his own scedule, but all in all it was a sucsesful trip and we made it safely to Piemont. By accident I was the one who drove all the way down (only with one stop). After our lunch break I again sat in the driving seat and immediatly started driving. After some time I realized that I rather drive the whole route that risking Yuma waking up and we had to stop. So I just drove and drove untill Yuma waked up. When he did it was around 7 pm and we made it.

Shortly after some unpacking Mary and Nestor treated us with some delicious dinner (plant based). We're pretty exhausted because of the driving so we then quickly went to bed. The next day, Mary und Nestor offered us a tour of their property, we happily accepted because we were very courius. It didn't take long for us to realize that this property is not a home for a 2 person household. Vast amount of land, which has to be maintained and countless fruit trees. There are 3 main buildings with several habitables rooms and a few to develop. A outdoor kitchen with a outdoor bathroom, probalby my favorite thing about the property. Within 9.5 km you can reach the next bigger city and the closest neighbour is within 2 km reach. A property with many possibilities, they themselves have only moved in for 2 months and therefore are also still adjusting.

The following days we're allowed to cut all our daily duties and were able to enjoy time with family. Each day, Mary and Nestor treated us with two home made meals, that never came to disapoint us. This was actually also the only regulated thing on the daily basis. The rest of the day we spent how it felt right in this very moment. We ate, played, we danced, we made music, we wandered around the land, we enjoyed siestas and we very much loved our family quality time. Our time came to an end and we all knew that we had to stop by the ocean before we leave. Eventhough it was not at all what we expected (heavily overcrowded) we still managed to enjoy the magic of the ocean.

Two days later it was then time to say goodbye and drive back to Switzerland. Of course there was again a master plan for the 6 hours drive, but it shourly didn't go as planed. A lot of deep inhaling and exhaling was needed in order for us to not go nuts. But we somehow managed it and arrived home safe and sound.

Eventhough this trip was not linked to our upcoming big trip, it still felt like the frist step thowards our travel journey. We wish to travel between places like theirs and build friendships like we did with Mary and Nestor. We are very thankful to now have a space in Italy, where we always come back and be greeted with open arms and hearts.
